Container storage by town
415 townsAbout container storage
Container storage is a steel shipping container on a secure yard, rented by the month. You hold the only key, you can usually drive right up to the doors, and nobody else goes in. Trades use them for tools and materials, small businesses for stock, and households for anything bulky that doesn't need heating.
The common sizes are 10ft, 20ft and 40ft. A 20ft container has about 150 sq ft of floor and 1,170 cubic feet of space, roughly the contents of a three-bedroom house. Containers are wind and watertight but not climate controlled, so paperwork, fabrics and anything that minds damp need packing properly or an indoor store.
The cheapest published price on Ironkeep right now is £24 a month, and half of listed sites that publish prices charge £96 or less.
Questions
How much does container storage cost near {place}?
It depends on size and site. Each listing shows the operator's own published price where there is one; many yards quote on request. Always check whether the price includes VAT and insurance.
What size container do I need?
A 10ft container (about 70 sq ft) suits the contents of a one-bedroom flat or a trade's tools. A 20ft (about 150 sq ft) takes a three-bedroom house. A 40ft (about 300 sq ft) suits stock, plant or a large house move. Try the storage size calculator.
Can I get to my container any time?
Some yards are 24/7 with a keypad or fob, others keep set hours. Each listing shows access hours where the operator publishes them.
Do I need insurance?
Most operators require it, either through their own cover or your existing business or home policy. Ask before you sign.
